Jamplay Review

Don’t buy a membership before you know all the facts. Read my honest Jamplay review first!

What is Jamplay?

Jamplay is an online guitar lesson website that teaches you how to play guitar. You view all the guitar lessons directly on the website rather than something that you download or buy in a store. You don’t need to know anything about the guitar to join, and you will immediately feel welcome if you are a beginner.

Jamplay is not only for beginners, it’s a good resource for intermediate players as well as advance. The difficulty on the lessons ranges from easy to advance, and they teach everything from blues, jazz, rock, classical etc.

Here is some of the stuff you can expect from Jamplay:

53 instructors teaching every genre out there

Over 344 hours of lessons in High Definition

A chord library, Scale library and a Lick & Riff library with printable tabs and videos

Great support with a Q&A every week with instructors

Progression report where you keep track of the lessons you have done and what you need to work on.

An awesome community where you can create your own profile and meet people with similar interests

My experience with jamplay

My name is Robert and I have been a member of Jamplay for about 1year and 6 months now. The reason I joined was because I couldn’t afford private lessons (costs about $50/hour where I live) so I searched google for online guitar lessons and was lucky to find jamplay lessons plus a discount of 25% off Jamplay coupon.

I was a total beginner when I joined, and I was a bit skeptic if they would be able to explain everything as good as a private teacher. But it was over my expectations, in the beginner section they start with teaching you the anatomy of the guitar, how to tune posture and other basic stuff. Then you start learning chords and some easy songs. And in the end of the beginning section you will have learned stuff like chords, scales, finger techniques, some music theory, playing lead guitar etc. They do it in a good pace and it’s easy to understand and follow along.

All this prepares you for the intermediate section and that is where I am now. I’m currently learning to play Rock and getting more in depth, learning improvise solos and that kind of stuff. They also have a song learning section which is really good. Check out the link below for some free song lessons.

I really like it here, the lessons are great and they add new ones every week. I have Jamplay to thank for my progress, without them I probably would of become stuck and quit the guitar.

Course content

Jamplay Review Jamplay covers a lot of stuff. They have 30 instructors and add new content every day (check out their home page to see what they have recently added). The instructors are easy to hear and understand and they explain everything well. And since there are 30 of them, you are bound to find someone you like.

So far they have over 344 hours of lessons and it’s getting more every week. Every lesson also includes material that you can either print out or just look at on the site, it includes stuff like lesson write-ups, diagrams, exercises, tabs etc.

The structure of Jamplay is mainly based on three phases, it looks like this:

Phase 1 (Beginner)
This phase will prepare you for the basics of playing guitar.

Phase 2 (Genre Teaching and Skill Building)
Genre teaching primarily focus on learning skills and concepts that pertain to a specific genre of music. The skill building lessons helps you to develop your playing technique and skills. These lessons go more in depth in Lead playing(melodies, solos and improvising), Speed and Technique, Tips & Tricks, Reading music and Rhythms, Singing, and Song writing.

Phase 3 (Learning Songs)
In this section you will learn to play your favorite songs. Learning songs is a great method of using your developed skills and playing something you love. I spend a lot of my time in this section. You can also request songs that you want them to teach you.

Additional features

In addition to the video lessons they also have a bunch of other cool features that comes in handy:

Chord library

Scale library

Lick & riff library

Backing tracks

Metronome

Games
An example of a game is the note finding game, where you practice finding notes all over the neck.

Guitar tuner

Progress report
In the progress report you see what lessons you have recently done and what you need to work on more.

Article section
The articles are written by the instructors and Jamplay staff and covers a wide variety of subjects like music theory, product reviews, concert reviews etc.

Instructor Q&A

The libraries feature a real-life photo and a video of how each chord, scale, or lick & riff is played. You can print all tabs out and keep them if you want.

The instructor Q&A is very useful. Each and every week, you get to speak to the instructors live and ask them questions, and they will answer you in video form. These videos are always saved so you can go back and look at a Q&A you missed. Right now there are about 500 Q&A videos available to watch.

The community

The community is awesome. The forum is well structured and active, some examples of sub forums are: Introduction area, General chat, Acoustic guitar, Electric guitar, Theory etc. There are also sections for each of the instructors where you can discuss their lessons.

They also have a social networking feature that allows you to chat with other people and make your user profile where you can add photos, musical background, favorite bands and many other things. Members can then lookup and discover you, message you, and add you as a friend. You can search and find other guitar players based on location, talent, local gigs, and 14 other ways to find bands.

I have found a lot of people that share the same interests as me that I talk to daily. It’s a great way of meeting like-minded people.

Downfalls

There is so much content and tools available that you can get information overload if you are not careful. So if you easily get overwhelmed this might not be for you. However it’s very organized so if you just follow the stages and don’t jump ahead, you won’t have a problem. And you can always ask questions in the forum or on the Q&A sessions.

Conclusion

If you want the best online guitar lessons without spending a lot of money, Jamplay is the best option and is #1 in my book. For $19.95 a month you get access to everything you need to quickly become good at whatever genre you are interested in, which can take a long time if you learn it on your own. It’s perfect for both beginners and intermediate players, as the lessons range from easy to advance.

They offer a full money back guarantee, so if you for whatever reason think that it’s not worth the $19.95, you can get the money back with no questions asked.

Discount
Here is a jamplay coupon code (7A508817CB) I found that takes 25% off of the first month, it’s for a limited time only and I don’t know when it will stop working.
